｜Where does the brand come from?

Little Brown Dog Spirits is a micro-distillery and independent bottler located in Aberdeenshire. Founded by Chris and Andrew in 2018, the brand was named after Andrew’s pet, the “little brown dog”.

｜How it all started?

Originally Andrew simply wanted to share cask samples with friends, plus he likes to design his own labels. Gradually, he started his own bottling journey and purchased his own casks. It’s as if starting a bottling brand was planned all along!

｜Micro Distillery

・ The distillery is miniscule, with only two stills. One of which is a 10 litre copper still used to develop and experiment with new liquid, the other one is a 100 litre still, used to make grain neutral spirits. They predominantly make gin.
・ They can age casks in their own warehouse, it is the best way to ensure that the whisky has reached its best time and bottle it straight away.

｜Independent bottler

・ Bottle spirit that’s tasty and full of character.
・Age casks in their own warehouse, able to bottle, label and release bottlings onsite.
・Each label is unique, it may be inspired by the distillery, taste or other features. For example, Chris and Andrew once used their favourite competitive driver’s driver number as inspiration for a label.

｜Brand ethos

They shot a video for Whisky Age Day 2024, within it they really demonstrated what they meant by “thinking outside the box whilst maintaining traditional values”. Andrew and Chris said, “we are serious about making whisky, but we try not to be too serious! We love what we do and love to share our joy doing it.” They believe what they select to bottle will bring joy to their drinkers.
