Walking along the road next to the old community towards the bus stop
The wooden station silently stands in the park
The aroma of a sandwich still lingers on my lips
Memories are not just of the scenery, but also of the taste
【Introduction of Distillery】
Ben Nevis Distillery was established in 1825 and is one of the oldest distilleries in Scotland. The distillery is located at the foot of the highest mountain in the UK, Ben Nevis, which has a peak altitude of 4,406 feet. It was the first distillery in the region to legally produce whisky.
Throughout the history of Ben Nevis Distillery, which has seen numerous changes in ownership, a Coffey Still was installed by the then operator, Joseph Hobbs, in 1955. This made it the first distillery in the region that could simultaneously produce malt and grain whisky. In addition to this, it is one of the few distilleries in Scotland that currently uses beer yeast for fermentation. The distillery has been operated by the Japanese company Nikka since its acquisition in 1989, and a large portion of the base liquor is provided for the blending of Nikka Black.
