【酒標設計理念】

苦楝花通常在春夏之際盛開,花瓣呈現白色或淡紫色,並散發出獨特淡雅的香氣;開花時,紫白相間的花瓣隨著春風搖曳形成一幅迷人景色。《艾雷重擊・品牌概念店》對面園區就種植了數十棵苦楝樹,每年三月美得不得了。

曾經有這麼一句話:「苦楝發花如海棠,一蓓數朵,滿樹可觀。」於是我們想像著店內擺滿我們自有品牌及代理品牌眾多酒款的木製層架上,若長滿了一大片苦楝樹,當花瓣如羽毛般散落著的景象會是這樣的美景吧!
就如同苦楝的花語「癡心」一樣,艾雷重擊對我們擁有的每個桶子都在癡心地等候,等候它們達到最美好的狀態再將它們一個個裝瓶出來給愛好者享用,每一桶都期許如同繁星耀眼,要做一個好幾個世代都喜愛的品牌。

 

【Introduction of this dram】

Ben Nevis Distillery was established in 1825 and is one of the oldest distilleries in Scotland. The distillery is located at the foot of the highest mountain in the UK, Ben Nevis, which has a peak altitude of 4,406 feet. It was the first distillery in the region to legally produce whisky.
Throughout the history of Ben Nevis Distillery, which has seen numerous changes in ownership, a Coffey Still was installed by the then operator, Joseph Hobbs, in 1955. This made it the first distillery in the region that could simultaneously produce malt and grain whisky. In addition to this, it is one of the few distilleries in Scotland that currently uses beer yeast for fermentation. The distillery has been operated by the Japanese company Nikka since its acquisition in 1989, and a large portion of the base liquor is provided for the blending of Nikka Black.

 

Tasting Notes

Nose: sweet fruity sweetness. The initial notes are sweet orange, plum, melon, lemon, and berries, followed by subtle hints of yogurt, malt, honey syrup, nuts, and vanilla in the middle. The final notes are woody, with cardamom and spices.

Palate: medium-bodied. Citrus, apricot, a hint of sweet melon, plum, malt, honey syrup, nuts, woodiness, herbs, cardamom, and spices.

Finish: medium to long. Citrus, dried fruit, apricot, a salty-sweet sensation from candied fruit, malt, honey syrup, nuts, a tannic woodiness, mineral and spices.

Overall, it presents a gentle fruity sweetness. What’s interesting is the slight yogurt aroma in the middle, and the palate and finish carry a woody and mineral sensation, along with fresh fruitiness that lingers on the palate.
