Stewart Whisky

|Basic Background

Stewart Whiskey Company is an independent bottling brand from Scotland that focuses on expressing the essence of liquor. The brand was founded by George Stewart in May 2020 during covid lockdown.

Stewart Whisky hopes to showcase Scotland's precious distilleries to the world through carefully selected single cask bottlings and bring surprise and joy to drinkers.

The first release was launched in early 2021 and was named after "Stiùbhart".

|Stiùbhart: Single Cask Collection from Stewart Whisky

Stiùbhart is the Gaelic spelling of Stewart and is pronounced roughly the same. All bottlings are single cask bottling and bottled at cask strength, with no artificial colouring and non-chill filtered.

The brand’s aim is to bottle elegant, full-bodied whiskys that stay true to their essence without relying on a domineering cask. Of course, as long as the characteristics of the liquid itself is outstanding enough, sherry cask will not be deliberately avoided.

|Corporate Mission

No outer box is provided to reduce unnecessary packaging. George is not against others offering gift boxes, however he thinks those boxes tend to end up in the bin pretty quickly. Instead, he donates a small part of the proceeds of every bottle sold to the John Muir Foundation; a foundation that protects Scotland’s wildlife.

|The story behind the name

Since the company name is Stewart Whisky, why is the name of the brand on the label spelled in Gaelic "Stiùbhart" instead of "Stewart"? George thought the English spelling was too common (and short) and using Gaelic would arouse everyone's curiosity.

|Inspirations behind the logo

• The bird on the label is actually a pelican, family crest of the Stewart family from Scotland, hence it being the main design element of the brand's logo.

|How did the brand start

Stewart Whisky is actually a cask trader as well, the independent bottling brand is just a part of its business. Having said that, George started to trade casks because he wanted to have his own bottling brand.

|The concept behind multiple businesses and brands

Other than a bottling brand and cask trading, George also imports Italian wine into the UK with his father-in-law. As there are multiple income streams in his business, he does not feel the pressure to sell. Therefore, one can only find his whisky bottlings in “the right place” and he donates most of his proceeds to charity in Scotland.

3. Great Impression

There isn't much information about Stewart Whisky available online, and discussions about its whiskies are scarce, making it a brand with relatively low visibility. The decisive factor in confidently introducing it to everyone is ultimately the quality of the selected whiskies. Whisky AGE team visited the UK last year and, after tasting several whiskies about to be bottled with Stewart, they were so impressed that they unhesitatingly brought the brand into Taiwan Market.
